Geyser Lake is one of the most beautiful places in the Altai Mountains. The water here is bright turquoise. And along the bottom there are "alien" circles, the shape of which changes before our eyes. The reservoir is relatively small, about 30 meters in diameter, and no more than 2 meters in depth. The lake was discovered in the early 2000s. When and how it was formed has not been precisely established. The most popular version is the 2003 Chui earthquake.
Despite the name, there are no geysers on the lake. There is no emission of gases or hot steam. The reservoir is fed by underground springs, which throw blue clay mixed with sand to the bottom. The water is absolutely clean and does not freeze even in severe frosts. And on the hottest days it does not exceed 10 degrees. The lake is protected; swimming is prohibited here.
