Yankito is a huge lava plateau that was formed several thousand years ago after the eruption of the Bogdan Khmelnitsky volcano, not far from Kurilsk. Origin and meaning of the name Yanquito unknown. This is what the ancestors of the Japanese called it during the Jomon period from 13,000 to 300 BC.
Streams of liquid hot magma flowed towards the ocean, filled the uneven soil and cooled. A pile of dark pointed rocks of the most fantastic shapes formed. Over time, soil has fallen into some of the crevices, and now grass and even flowers sprout from there. Otherwise, the lava field is lifeless.
